What is the difference between ‘Private’ and ‘Public’ report access?

Short Answer:
Private = only invited team members can view
Public = anyone with the link can view (no login required)

PreRequisites

  1. Have the ‘Share this report’ dialog open

Steps

  1. Open sharing settings.
    Go to ‘Share this report’.

  2. Compare access options.
    You will see:

    • Private: Only team members with access can view

    • Public: Anyone with the link can view without logging in

Troubleshooting

  1. External users cannot view even after selecting Public
    Likely Cause: Changes not saved
    Action: Select ‘Public’ and click ‘Save’

Note: Use Public only when you’re okay with unrestricted access via the link; otherwise keep the report Private for controlled sharing.
