What do 'Private' and 'Public' mean under 'Report access'?

Last updated on Apr 29, 2026

Short Answer:
Private = Only team members can view the report
Public = Anyone with the link can view (no login required)

Steps

  1. Open the 'Share this report' dialog and locate the 'Report access' section.
You will see both options with descriptions.

  2. Read the option details:

  • Private — Only team members can view this report

  • Public — Anyone with the link can view. No login required

Choose the option based on how widely you want to share the report.

Troubleshooting

  1. Recipients still need to log in after selecting Public.
    LikelyCause: Changes were not saved.
Action: Select Public, click Save, and test the link again (preferably in incognito mode).

Note: Use Private for controlled internal access and Public when sharing externally via a link.
