Why are there more transactions in Books than in VAT / sales tax on this report?

Last updated on May 18, 2026

Short Answer: Because some Book transactions did not match to VAT / sales tax; the 'Unmatched' card and tab list those Book entries (example: Books shows 5 unmatched transactions totaling 13,055.49.)

Answer

PreRequisites

  1. Open the 'VAT / sales tax reconciliation report' page

Steps

  1. Check the 'Total' card to compare transaction counts for 'VAT / sales tax' and 'Books' (e.g., 160 vs 165.)
You can see the numeric difference in transaction counts.

  2. Click the 'Unmatched' pill/tab near the table to show only unmatched items.

  3. Review each unmatched row and open it use the right chevron to inspect details and determine why it didn't match.
You identify the Book entries that require correction or further investigation.

  4. Fix the underlying data book entry or tax record or clarify why items should remain unmatched, then click 'Run new reconciliation'.
The new reconciliation should reduce the unmatched count if items are corrected.

Troubleshooting

  1. No unmatched rows are shown after selecting 'Unmatched'.
LikelyCause: The page did not load correctly or a filter is applied that hides items.
Action: Refresh the page, ensure the 'Unmatched' tab is active, and re-run the reconciliation if needed.
