What do "Private" and "Public" mean under Report access?

Last updated on May 18, 2026

Short Answer: "Private" means only team members can view the report; "Public" means anyone with the link can view and no login is required.

PreRequisites

  1. Open the "Share this report" dialog to view the "Report access" section

Steps

  1. Open the "Share this report" dialog and locate the "Report access" section.
You see two radio options: "Private" and "Public" with explanatory text.

  2. Read the explanatory text next to each option: "Private — Only team members can view this report." and "Public — Anyone with the link can view. No login required."
You understand which option suits your sharing needs.

Troubleshooting

  1. People who are not on the team cannot view when you think the report is public.
LikelyCause: The report was not actually saved with the "Public" setting.
Action: Re-open the dialog, select "Public", click "Save", and then share the link using "Copy link".
